My Testimony

I was unfortunately arrested on July 12, 2019 for being on a vehicle where someone else had illegal drugs in their possession and was also blamed for them. I had no one who could bond me out of jail so I had been incarcerated almost 8 months awaiting my court trial. There was a new inmate that came in I believe at the end of February or beginning of March. Apparently my roommate Nikki had met her and started hanging out with her. She told me about it and I said she looks like a nice person with kind eyes. Well my roommate Nikki had told this woman who’s name is Temi my story and I was unaware of this. One day Nikki said Temi is going to help you get out. I said seriously why? Nikki said she told Temi my story and Temi wanted to help. A day or so later, Temi put me on the phone with her husband to get my personal information to see about bailing me out. I couldn’t believe it! Temi said she was going to get me out by the next Friday and she told me “I got you”. !
I hadn’t even spoken with her previously, but for some reason I believed her. I knew she was the answer to my prayers for God to give me a miracle! I told her God bless you and thank God. This other woman who had been there with me for months promised me she would bail me out when she was released, but never did. For some reason, not even knowing Temi, I believed her and knew she was my miracle I had been praying for. Sure enough on March 11th 2020, Temi was gonna be released and told me again, “I got you”. I was so excited, but didn’t tell anyone else except my roommate because I didn’t want to possibly jinx the situation. Temi was released that night and the next afternoon the deputy called me over and said come on let’s go. I said where am I going? She said home! I started crying tears of joy and thanking God over and over. I was blessed with my miracle in the form of Temi. Sure enough down in the lobby Temi was waiting on me with another girl she helped get out who was pregnant named Whitney. I cried more happy tears. Only God could have made this happen. I felt so special. Next we had to all go over to the bondsman’s office to sign the paperwork. Next we met up with Temi’s husband whom I call David. We met him in the parking lot at the Crusty Crab where I gave him a big hug. He also has those kind eyes. I thanked him and had more tears of joy. We then went inside the restaurant to have a most fabulous meal of crab legs and shrimp. It was a drastic change from the horrible jail food I had been eating for 8 months! I was in heaven! It was strange how comfortable I felt around Temi and David not knowing them at all. They were so patient and caring. After dinner they took Whitney and me to Ross to shop for some needed clothes. I got some pants, blouses, underwear, and a dress with shoes for church. How wonderful is that? I love you more, but not finished. Temi brought Whitney to her apartment along with her new wardrobe and for her kids. Temi said to me, ” you are gonna chill with us for awhile”. Thank God more blessings because I had nowhere to go to. These two angels who did not know me from Adam where taking me into their home. Wow, more miracles still happening! I met her wonderful friend Grace and their lovely boys. Such a nice family. Everyone made me feel so comfortable unlike someone who just got out of jail. They took me to the grocery store. They fed me wonderful meals. Temi and Grace are great cooks. The next morning we were about to go to church and I was feeling very self conscious because I had put on so much weight in jail. I looked absolutely horrible and didn’t want to go to church. I was so upset and embarrassed. Temi, David, and Grace all calmed me down. I went to a lovely and lively church in Decatur with Temi and David. Grace was running late from waiting on me so she went to her church in Lawrenceville without me where I was supposed to be in introduced to people who might be willing to help me with a place to live. At Temi and David’s church we had a nice time. We were singing and dancing celebrating the Lord. After the service the pastor and elders called me into their office since I was new at the church. It was very sweet. They prayed for me and told me they appreciated me bringing some color to their church. I was the only white person there and had to laugh which they did too. A nice ice breaker I have to say. They left me with some food and goodies to take with me. I was glad I went after all my drama. I felt more at ease. After that we stopped by the church in Lawrenceville so I could meet the pastor, she said a prayer for me, and asked me some questions about my current situation. The following Wednesday we went back to the church in Lawrenceville for a bible study that I loved. The guy who was teaching the class was very knowledgeable. I learned some new things and was able to share my own knowledge. It was a good bible study. After class we met with the pastor and a nice woman named Monica who was willing to give me a place to live temporarily. The miracles kept coming my way. God is great! Well I ended up moving to Monica’s the following Saturday in Suwanee. She had two other women she was also helping living there in a condo she used to live in across the street from her new condo. What a nice thing to do for people in need. We unfortunately were stuck inside for many weeks because of the covid virus. It was making me crazy. A friend of mine eventually came to get me and let me stay at her place. The rest is history. If it weren’t for Temi and David I would still be incarcerated awaiting my court date which has still yet to come. Instead I am out of that horrible place a free woman! Temi still checks on me and asks if I need anything. She is truly one of God’s angels on this earth sent to help those if us in dyer need. I am truly blessed to have a friend like her and the world is a better place because of her. I will always love her dearly. May God bless you today and forever Temi! Love always, K. Smith
